“The most confused we ever get is when we try to convince our heads of something that we know in our hearts is a lie.” ~Karen Moning

It’s painful and stressful to feel like you’re living a lie. Like you’re hiding how you really feel, saying what you think other people want to hear, and doing things you don’t actually want to do—just because you think you’re supposed to.

But sometimes we don’t recognize we’re doing this. We just know we feel off, or something feels wrong, and we’re not sure how to change it.

It makes sense that a lot of us struggle with being true to ourselves.

From a young age, we’re taught to be good, fall in line, and avoid making any waves—to lower our voices, do as we’re told, and quit our crying (or they’ll give us something to cry about).

And most of us don’t get the opportunity to foster or follow our curiosity. Instead, we learn all the same things as our peers, at the exact same time; and we live a life consumed by the mastery of these things, our bodies restless from long hours of seated study and our minds overwhelmed with memorized facts that leave very little room for free thinking.

To make things even worse, we learn to compare our accomplishments and progress—often, at things we don’t even really care about—to those of everyone around us. So we learn it’s more important to appear successful in relation to others than to feel excited or fulfilled within ourselves.

This was my experience both growing up and in my twenties. A people-pleaser who was always looking to prove that I mattered, I was like a chameleon, and I constantly felt paralyzed about which choices to make because all I knew was that they needed to be impressive.

I never knew what I really thought or felt because I was too busy suffocating my mind with fears and numbing my emotions to develop even a modicum of self-awareness.

RELATED: 93% of People Do Not Know This Method Is Used By Celebrities and Millionaires to Succeed In Their Lives

This meant I had no idea what I needed. I only knew I didn’t feel seen or heard. I felt like no one really knew me. But how could they when I didn’t even know myself?

I know I’ve made a lot of progress with this over the years, and I have a mile-long list of unconventional choices to back that up, as well as a number of authentic, fulfilling relationships. But I’ve recently recognized some areas where I’ve shape-shifted in an attempt to please others, and in some cases, without even realizing it.

I don’t want to be the kind of person who panders to popular opinion or lets other people dictate my choices. I don’t want to waste even one minute trying to be good enough for others instead of doing what feels good to me.

I want to make my own rules, live on my own terms, and be bold, wild, and free.

This means peeling away the layers of fear and conditioning and being true to what I believe is right. But it’s hard to do this, because sometimes those layers are pretty heavy, or so transparent we don’t even realize they’re there.

With this in mind, I decided to create this reminder of what it looks and feels like to be true to myself so I can refer back to it if ever I think I’ve lost my way.

If you also value authenticity and freedom over conformity and approval, perhaps this will be useful to you too.

You know you’re being true to yourself if….

1. You’re honest with yourself about what you think, feel, want, and need.

You understand that you have to be honest with yourself before you can be honest with anyone else. This means you make space in your life to connect with yourself, perhaps through meditation, journaling, or time in nature.

This also means you face the harsh realities you may be tempted to avoid. You’re self-aware when faced with hard choices—like whether or not to leave a relationship that doesn’t feel right—so you can get to the root of your fear.

You might not always do this right away, or easily, but you’re willing to ask yourself the tough questions most of us spend our lives avoiding: Why am I doing this? What am I getting from this? And what would serve me better?

2. You freely share your thoughts and feelings.

Even if you’re afraid of judgment or tempted to lie just to keep the peace, you push yourself to speak up when you have something that needs to be said.

And you refuse to stuff your feelings down just to make other people feel comfortable. You’re willing to risk feeling vulnerable and embarrassed because you know that your feelings are valid, and that sharing them is the key to healing what’s hurting or fixing what isn’t working.

3. You honor your needs and say no to requests that conflict with them.

You know what you need to feel physically, mentally, and emotionally balanced, and you prioritize those things, even if this means saying no to other people.

Sure, you might sometimes make sacrifices, but you understand it’s not selfish to honor your needs and make them a priority.

RELATED: What Your Numerology Chart Can Tell You About Your Personality + Destiny

You also know your needs don’t have to look like anyone else’s. It’s irrelevant to you if someone else can function on four hours of sleep, work around the clock, or pack their schedule with social engagements. You do what’s right for you and take care good care of yourself because you recognize you’re the only one who can.

4. Some people like you, some people don’t, and you’re okay with that.

Though you may wish, at times, you could please everyone—because it feels a lot safer to receive validation than disapproval—you understand that being disliked by some is a natural byproduct of being genuine.

This doesn’t mean you justify being rude and disrespectful because hey, you’re just being yourself! It just means you know you’re not for everyone; you’d rather be disliked for who you are than liked for who you’re not; and you understand the only way to find “your tribe” is to weed out the ones who belong in someone else’s.

5. You surround yourself with people who respect and support you just as you are.

You understand that the people around you affect you, so you surround yourself with people who respect and support you, which motivates you to continue being true to yourself.

You may have people in your life who don’t do these things, but if you do, you understand their issues with you are just that—their issues. And you set boundaries with them so that they don’t get in your head and convince you there’s something wrong with you or your choices.

6. You focus more on your own values than what society deems acceptable.

You’ve read the script for a socially acceptable life—climb the corporate ladder, have a lavish wedding, buy a big house, and make some babies—but you’ve seriously questioned whether this is right for you. Maybe it is, but if you go this route, it’s because this plan aligns with your own values, not because it’s what you’re supposed to do.

You know your values are your compass in life, and that they change over time. So you check in with yourself regularly to be sure you’re living a life that doesn’t just look good on paper but also feels good in your heart.

7. You listen to your intuition and trust that you know what’s best for yourself.

You not only hear the voice inside that says, “Nope, not right for you,” you trust it. Because you’ve spent a lot of time learning to distinguish between the voice of truth and fear, you recognize the difference between holding yourself back and waiting for what feels right.

You might not always make this distinction immediately, and you might sometimes be swayed by well-meaning people who want to protect you from the risks of thinking outside the box. But eventually, you tune out the noise and hone in on the only voice that truly knows what’s best for you.

8. You do what feels right for you, even if that means risking approval from the people around you.

Not only do you trust that you know what’s best for you, you do it. Even if it’s not a popular choice. Even if people question your judgment, vision, or sanity. You recognize that no one else is living your life, and no one else has to live with the consequences of your choices, so you make them for you and let the chips fall where they may when it comes to public perception.

RELATED: How to Attract Your Soulmate By Raising Your Vibration

This doesn’t necessarily mean you have everything you want in life. It just means you hear the beat of your own drum, even if it’s silent like a dog whistle to everyone else, and you march to it—maybe slowly or awkwardly, but with your freak flag raised nice and high.

9. You allow yourself to change your mind if you recognize you made a choice that wasn’t right for you.

You may feel embarrassed to admit you’re changing directions, but you do it anyway because you’d rather risk being judged than accept a reality that just plain feels wrong for you.

Whether it’s a move that you realize you made for the wrong reasons, a job that isn’t what you expected, or a commitment you know you can’t honor in good conscience, you find the courage to say, “This isn’t right, so I’m going to make another change.”

10. You allow yourself to evolve and let go of what you’ve outgrown.

This is probably the hardest one of all because it’s not just about being true to yourself; it’s also about letting go. It’s about recognizing when something has run its course and being brave enough to end the chapter, even if you don’t know yet what’s coming next. Even if the void feels dark and scary.

But you, you recognize that the void can also feel light and thrilling. That empty space isn’t always a bad thing because it’s the breeding ground for new possibilities—for fulfillment, excitement, passion, and joy. And you’re more interested in seeing who else you can be and what else you can do than languishing forever in a comfortable life that now feels like someone else’s.

—

As with all things in life, we each exist on a spectrum. Every last one of us lives in the grey area, so odds are you do some of these things, some of the time, and probably never perfectly. And you may go through periods when you do few or none of these things, without even realizing you’ve slipped.

That’s how it’s been for me. I’ve gone through phases when I’ve felt completely in alignment and other times when I’ve gotten lost. I’ve had times when I’ve felt so overwhelmed by conflicting wants, needs, and beliefs—my own and other people’s—that I’ve shut down and lost touch with myself.

It happens to all of us. And that’s okay. The important thing is that we keep coming home to ourselves and we eventually ask ourselves the hard questions that decide the kind of lives we lead: What am I hiding? What am I lying about? And what truth would set me free?

Imagine having that special someone in your life who will stay by your side no matter what. That loved one who will be your partner in creating a family.

Many dating and relationship programs will tell you that you need to become confident, because confidence is sexy.

Well, there’s some truth to that. But how do you manufacture confidence when you start with so little?

Humor me, and try this brief exercise for a moment.

Look at the computer in front of you or on the desk or table where the computer sits. If you’re using a mobile device, improvise. Find a tiny spec of dust and examine it for a moment. How frightening is that piece of dust? Does it make you quiver with fear?

Of course not!

Why is this?

Couldn’t it be because the piece of dust is unimportant?

When you decide that something is unimportant, then it becomes far easier to get it. In your soul, you know this.

Let me give you an example to refresh your memory and to excite your awareness of the possibilities.

Let’s say you’ve misplaced your car keys. You don’t remember where you set them down and you now need them desperately. All that importance makes you concerned—even worried. Impatience makes it even worse. The harder you try to remember, the more elusive the memory becomes. But when you relax and turn your attention to something else, suddenly there’s the memory you needed.

The moment you relax and allow the memory to become unimportant, you find it. Prayer is a lot like that.

And with the 7 Day Prayer Miracle, you learn how to be more precise with your prayers so you get exactly what you want.

The more you worry about how you’ll find your significant other, the harder it becomes. Your objective needs to be one of faith that God will deliver. This course tells you exactly how to achieve that elusive state of “faith.”

One man actually started “feeling in love” before he ever knew the name of his future wife. This wasn’t because he had seen a picture. No! He cultivated this feeling even before he met her online.

Halfway around the world, his future bride started going to internet cafes, searching for the right website in order to meet her future husband. His prayer prompted her action immediately. And in less than two weeks, she had left him a note that resulted in more than a decade (and counting) of marital bliss.

The wonderful thing about prayer is that it’s instantaneous. The final result may take a little while to find its way to you, but the action starts immediately. Always!

There are four traits of God about which you will learn that can be activated in yourself to bring you closer to God and to make your prayers heard. Then, you merely need to allow God to do the work. Nothing could be simpler.

And with the power of prayer under your belt. The rest of your life will become far easier, because you put God first and allow Him to lead you to the love you’ve always wanted.

Ready to Find the Love of Your Life?

Great! Let’s get you started.

Naturally, anything worth having requires action on your part. Learning to do prayer properly will require work. But once you learn it, the results will be worth it. Not only will you have the skills to get the love of your life, but also everything else in your life you will want or need. God is a generous parent. He unconditionally loving and generous—infinitely so. He wants you to have everything you desire. The trick is in the way you ask—prayer. Teaching you how to pray is relatively straightforward, but you need to be committed. And aren’t you worth it?

Your lover is waiting for you to call them into your life. With prayer done right, the results become effortless and easy. God does all the work.

A life of love and companionship awaits you.

Click below to discover how 7 Day Prayer Miracle can help you take charge of your love life and produce the life partner you deserve.

If you want to attract all that you want in life, Gratefulness is an attitude you need to learn. Which is why we are taking the time to discuss this all-important law of attraction gratitude exercises. They will help you attain harmony with universal laws.

Because gratitude is very simple, it is normal for people to underestimate its powers. People generally prefer to believe things that appear complicated. I want to advise you to maintain an open mind about the methods we will discuss here in order to bring about positive changes to your life.

Most successful people have a morning habit that includes a brief period of meditation over the things that they have gone through in the recent past or the things that are going on in their life currently. They do this always before getting out of bed. This habit is one of the most effective ways to connect to higher vibrations. It is also a proven way to become a lot happier.

To live a happier life where you are always getting great opportunities, there is a need for you to realign your outlook of the world around you and start seeing the many good things that life has to offer. Success is primarily a function of your mindset. In order to achieve your greatest dreams in life, there is a need to focus on building a mindset of abundance. To do this successfully, you need to have a gratitude attitude.

At the end of the day, you need to know that you can transform your life positively through gratitude and turn things around for yourself. Let us consider some of the small personality traits that are crucial to achieving your heart desires in life.

What makes gratitude powerful?

Let me begin by sharing with you some things that I have learned from my personal growth programs and books.

The subconscious mind contains all the answers and solutions to any problem you might be facing right now. At every point in time, we are bombarded with countless information from the world around us. Our minds filter all of this information and bring only the data which aligns with our individual view of the world around us to us.

This means the key to everything you are looking for is always right there before you. The only reason you are not seeing it is that your mind is blocking it from entering into your field of view.

It is impossible to manifest your desires until you have learned how to get rid of limiting beliefs in your subconscious mind which are generating negative thoughts that have been working against you.

There is no point in making wishes and forming conscious intentions until you have learned to let things to pass through the walls that your mind has created.

In some ways, we can say that the greatest enemy preventing you from achieving your heart desires is you. While it is true that you are making some conscious efforts to achieve what you want, at the same time you engage your mind in thoughts that build negative perspectives which block you from being able to see clearly, the right paths to achieving your dreams.

When you build a very strong awareness of the present moment for yourself while learning to enjoy the moments to the fullest, you are able to reach a state of flow where your desires come to manifestation quickly. Having an attitude of gratitude is indeed a powerful tool that gets you a lot closer to achieving this.

While it is true that mindfulness exercises or good meditation exercises can help you attain a higher state of awareness, learning to be grateful for your own life just the way it is will help you to naturally begin to live in the present and enjoying it more than you have ever been able to.

Being genuinely grateful for all that you have right now opens up your energy field and allows more good to manifest all around you. Apart from this, I have discovered from reading books that gratefulness can also help you get rid of negative karma.

Let us now consider some exercises that can help you achieve this.

Gratitude exercises

In this part of the post, we will go over some effective exercises that you can make use of. However, you should practice these tips anyhow you want to. Just make sure you do whatever you are doing with a genuine feeling. These exercises cannot help you achieve specific things; you need to start developing positive habits and concentrate on the great things you have going for you until it becomes a part of your natural qualities.

Practice Morning Gratitude

Like I mentioned earlier, the best way to start your morning is to begin by meditating over all that you love in your life at the moment. You need to simply lie down or sit-up in your bed after you have woken up and consider the things that have made you very happy in previous days while expressing your gratitude to the higher power of the universe for the things that have brought you happiness so far.

Keeping a Gratitude Journal

Keeping a gratitude journal is not something most people find very easy (even I find it hard to do so), but it is more effective to write down things that you are thankful for than merely thinking about them.

Your subconscious mind is better aware of things that you write down with strong emotions than things you try to keep in your mind. If you feel up to it, get yourself a nice journal and write down the things you are grateful for. How often you do this depends entirely on you. Whether it is daily or weekly. Just make sure you are making a list of the things that you are happy.

When writing, you can begin your journal entry with the words “I am so grateful and happy that___” then write about those things which you love. This might be something as insignificant as your early morning coffee or even a lovely song you couldn’t stop listening to all day.

Say Grace before your Meals

Even if you are not Catholic, this simple ritual is something you can practice. Each time you are sitting down to eat your meal, you should always remind yourself to express gratitude to the higher powers.

Think of all the good things that have happened to you during the day prior to that time whenever you sit at the table to have your meal. You can also say some thanks for the food you are about to it.

Active Gratitude

This last point is actually my favorite. It is something I have mentioned a couple of times in some posts. With time, active gratitude will become second nature.

Whenever you experience anything that evokes a positive feeling within you, you should say “thanks” for it immediately. Doing this is perhaps the best and the sincerest way of showing you are grateful. When you are able to say thanks for any good thing that happens per time, you do so with a sincere feeling.

Some moments ago, a close friend that I haven’t heard from for a long time called me. I said thanks immediately after I took the call because I was really happy. That’s exactly how it works. You don’t need something big to happen before you show gratitude. It doesn’t have to be something big like winning the lottery or getting a promotion. Most people concentrate so much on their desires or the things they are yet to achieve that they end up ignoring those things that truly matter.

Many of us would do anything to go back to being teenagers, but if you think about it you will remember that when you were a teen, you desperately wanted to grow up. At every point in time, we are losing and gaining things. Unfortunately, we only get to realize later on.

Thus you should start paying attention to even the small things you are enjoying right now in order to develop a gratitude attitude.

For effective methods you can use to alter the limiting beliefs in your subconscious mind, you can read the post- Allow Your Abundance

What do you think about the ideas I shared in this post? In what ways do you personally express your gratitude to the universe? You can share your views about this in the comment section.

Do You Really Love Yourself?

Do you think that loving yourself is selfish? Many of us have been taught that tending to our own needs first is wrong. The truth is that learning to love yourself is not selfish, it is in fact the key to a free and happy life.

Do you want to discover how to cultivate a deep sense of love for yourself? Do you long to radiate confidence and security in your life? It is so easy to fall into the trap of self-doubt, procrastination and negativity. Once we start comparing ourselves to others we find it even harder to find self love.

Why is it Important to Develop Self Love?

Many people do not realize how linked the law of attraction and self love are. You know that everything is energy and vibration in this universe, so doesn’t it make sense that through love you will flow pure energy? When you feel good within you feel good about everything else too. Everything is a reflection of your perceptions, beliefs and vibrations.

It is not selfish to love yourself first, it is essential, and we’re not talking about arrogance or telling people how awesome you are! We’re talking about accepting yourself on a deep human level and treating yourself with respect.

When you love yourself you create self-confidence, self-worth and compassion. One of the biggest problems we all face in this age of Instagram and Facebook is about validating ourselves through the approval of others. When we are constantly comparing our lives to other peoples or have worth tied up in their opinions of us, we are setting ourselves up for misery.

The answer is to have that sense of self so cemented that nothing anyone can say or do can knock you from your knowledge of who you are and what you are worth. That deep place of self-love is the starting place for all miracles!

We’re going to show you some simple ways to incorporate self love into your life and grow your self esteem for a happy life.

When you learn how to love yourself, the law of attraction will suddenly seem to work to your benefit much more. That’s because when you fuel your desires with optimism (because you just 100% know that you are worthy!), you allow positive things to flow to you with much more ease.

How to Love Yourself: 15 Tips for Developing Self Love

1. Train Yourself Positive

Everyday write down 3 positive things about yourself. These can be anything from achievements in life to friendships you value or physical/ character traits you admire in yourself. The reason this helps is that it trains you to look for and appreciate the positive over the negative in your life. Imagine what it would feel like to praise instead of criticize yourself!

2. Take Yourself Somewhere New

Instead of waiting for the right moment or person to come along, why not just go to the movies or try a new restaurant on your own? When you can break through insecurities you have about doing these things solo, you deepen that connection to your true self. You discover the part of you that loves who you are unconditionally.

3. Travel

Setting off on a trip alone is a wonderful way to cultivate self love and get to know yourself. It’s even better if you also take in a new culture or unknown destination as you will be forced to strip down any preconceptions you may have about others and yourself. Throwing yourself into the unknown is brave and takes confidence, you will find out a lot about yourself on a deep level.

4. Journal

Writing is a proven therapeutic way of releasing tension and negativity. It is amazing to process your feelings and emotions about yourself and your life through journaling. You can also go back and see how you worked through challenges and learned from any bad experiences.

5. Mirror Work

Every morning go to the mirror and look straight into your eyes and say to your reflection “I love you, just as you are and I want to be your friend.” You can choose your own words of course, but the effect of this is incredibly powerful. Some people may find it very challenging at first, but keep at it and feel your self esteem and confidence soar.

6. Create a Vision Board

When you don’t love yourself you don’t believe you can have the things you want in life. Creating a personal vision board of everything you dream of is a wonderful way to get excited about your future. Why not include images of things you already have that you love and are proud of? This can help you to identify with your vision and not see it as just an unattainable dream.

7. Meditate Every Day

Meditating on a regular basis is like food for the mind and soul. We all know it by now, but how many of us actually can say we do it enough? When you get into a healthy practice of calming your mind you start to feel who you really are on a deep level and how you connect with everything else in the world.

8. Listen to Your Gut

Another benefit of meditation is being able to recognize your instincts for what they are and listening to them. When you develop the ability to trust your own intuition, you foster self love. Knowing how to trust your gut is to stand in your own power and own it.

9. Regular Self Care

Self love is much more than getting a haircut and a mani-pedi, however taking the time to respect and honour your physical body with loving gestures that make you feel good is highly recommended. Confidence and beauty do start within, but sometimes looking good can help you feel better on the inside when you are struggling with self-esteem.

10. List Your Accomplishments

Don’t be too shy to give yourself a little credit where credit is due. Write a list of everything you are proud of, whether it’s an educational or work achievement or simply learning a new recipe or deciding to master a yoga position. Big and small accomplishments are all worthy of praise, no matter what they are.

11. Practice Forgiveness

Forgiveness is vital to your mental and emotional health. Holding onto resentment towards others only hurts you in the long run. Equally, identify where you beat up on yourself for choices you regret or whatever toxic thoughts you have about your past, and then decide to let them go. Tell yourself you are just another human on a journey of life and love yourself through all your mistakes.

12. Don’t be Afraid to Say No

A lot of stress can be avoided when you realize it’s ok to say no sometimes. If you don’t feel like going out or feel overwhelmed, listen to that and take it as a sign to spend some time alone getting grounded again. You cannot please everybody and you need to make sure you are being true to yourself first.

13. Leave Your Comfort Zone

On the flip side of the above point, say yes occasionally when you normally say no. You can tell (if you’re listening to your gut) whether your ‘no’s’ are coming from a place of fear or a genuine desire not to do something. Try saying yes to something out of the ordinary for you and see how it feels to challenge yourself in new ways.

14. List Positive Traits in all Your Friends

This is a fun one to do in a couple or with a friend. Sit down together for 5 minutes and list the strong qualities and positive aspects that you each identify in the other. This can be an amazing way to bond in relationships and also has the uplifting effect of raising your own self esteem.

15. Be Childlike

Find a photo of yourself as a child and really study it. Try to remember what that little person dreamed of, what they believed and wished for. See the innocence and light in your young eyes and find that place in you now, that place of purity and playfulness. Self love never went away it just got pushed aside. When you remember your childlike innocence, worries seem to fade away.

You might find some of these suggestions scary at first, perhaps you shy away from some of our tips because they threaten your normal way of thinking and behaving. The bottom line is you will feel so much happier and more positive in your life if you work on developing love for yourself.

Once you master some of the ways to create self love you will realize how crucial it is to own who you are and shine your authentic light in the world.

Bonus Tip – Try using love to create the things you desire. For example, tell yourself that you are going to love yourself into the best version of you. You want a bigger house? A soul mate? A new job? A dream vacation? Love them all into existence. You can draw them, write about them, dream about them, whatever you choose, just as long as when you think of them you feel the vibration of love not lack. Love the life you desire into existence with your unfailing belief in your own magnificence.

Click on the link here to discover more about how “Manifestation Magic” can help you.

Here are eight creative things you can do to immediately start moving closer to your dreams. I’ve done all of these things, and many, many more.

Are some silly and embarrassing? Yes.

Is living the life you dream of worth it? Hell, yes.

1. Write a blueprint for your life.

Write down (or I suppose you could draw/paint if you’re so inclined) a narration depicting the amazing, clarifying, and happy events that are soon to unfold in your life. Don’t write things like, “I hope” or “I want.” Instead, confidently go into future-mode and reminisce by writing things like, “I did” or “I went.”

The point is to show yourself how things might go, not how they will go—there shouldn’t be any “insistence” that things will go exactly as you write. Simply review what you’ve written from time to time for inspiration, or to charge yourself up before you visualize. You’ll find, particularly if you’ve been feeling low, that this exercise stirs hope and creates new possibilities for manifestations in your life.

2. Write a letter to the Universe.

Write a letter to the Universe expressing your feelings of love and gratitude for the way your life is going and has gone. Tell yourself about your amazing successes, the dreams of yours that have come true, what you did to achieve them, how your life looks now, etc.

Write this letter as if all of your current dreams have already been reached. If your wiser, future self has a deeper understanding about life, a greater sense of peace and happiness, a clearer vision of what’s important, be sure to include that as well.

3. Write yourself love letters and checks from admirers, friends, and businesses.

This one is as fun as it sounds. In my visualization scrapbook, I used to have a picture of a beautiful woman from a magazine advertisement for a Hawaiian resort. She didn’t know it, but we were having a passionate love affair. During the creation of my audio program, Infinite Possibilities, I was promising myself to go to Hawaii as my reward, and preferably with someone like her.

Similarly, long before I was ever published, I’d write myself letters from publishers, who, as you might imagine, were crazy-happy to have found me and loved my writings. Something else I did: I called the provided toll-free number of my lender to get the payoff amount of my home mortgage. I acted as if I could pay mine off.

They gave me the exact amount, to the penny, and as a further demonstration, I wrote the check, envelope, and stamped it. (I did not mail it—given my account balance, doing so would have been illegal.) But I remember thinking, Yes! I’m going be that person one day!

4. Digitally modify images and photos.

I thought the suggested cover Simon & Schuster sent me for Infinite Possibilities was a bit lackluster (not really—it just lacked some key elements). So, with some art software, I set out to improve it.

I added: “New York Times Bestseller! 52 weeks!” I emblazoned across the top: “Seven million copies sold,” “As seen on Oprah and Larry King Live,” “Now in 25 languages,” which is a number that “coincidentally” matches how many foreign languages I’m now published in.

I printed my manipulated cover and plastered it on the walls and doors around my home. If you’re not good with digital manipulation, scissors and glue work just fine.

5. Fill in a mock calendar.

Find a calendar or planner and fill the days and months with wonderful events, trips, parties, dates, and adventures that you want to create for yourself in the year ahead.

This is a fun way to get creative and envision new things unfolding in your life. After you’ve filled in the days, hang it up to remind yourself of the exciting things you’re going to create and experience in the year ahead.

6. Have pretend talks with family and friends.

This activity requires a friend, on the phone or in person, who understands your way of seeing the world. If no friend is available, try it with an imaginary friend or your own reflection in the mirror.

The goal is for the two (or more) of you to celebrate as if your present dreams have already come true. Speak about your dreams in the past or present tense. If you go first, speak about the success of your own dreams, and then congratulate your friend(s) on their successes.

After you’ve spoken for a few minutes, then allow your friend(s) to do the same, speaking of their own dreams coming true, and then speaking of your successes. Get into the elaborate details of all the expected and unexpected consequences that have come from the successes in each of your lives.

7. Scrapbooks and vision boards.

Make a scrapbook or vision board. These are awesome tools, because they steer your thinking toward end results representing the life of your dreams, bypassing the “cursed hows.” And then, those thoughts, when acted upon, will become things. Vision boards, scrapbooks, pictures on the refrigerator, and similar visual tools are used to spark the process of envisioning.

8. Overpay your revolving credit, car, and mortgage payments.

Never pay “the minimum,” which would be like calling the lender and saying, “Oh, hey, this is Mike Dooley.

I was just wondering… what is the absolute least, to the penny, that I could pay this month, without getting in big trouble?” That’s not the energy you want to put out there on the “plain of manifestation.” What would it say about your belief in the avalanches of abundance now rushing toward you? Not much.

Instead, here’s a trick: round up to the next dollar. If you owe $352.16, pay $353, because you’re not the kind of person who pays the minimum, ever again. The day will come when it’s not pennies.

It will be dollars, and then hundreds of dollars, and then tens of thousands. And eventually, the day will come when you don’t have those debts anymore.

Saying, “Oh, hey, this is Mike Dooley.
